The Cleansing Milk

A concentrated whole botanical cleansing milk, formulated with whole macadamia and chamomile, created to cleanse the skin while respecting the delicate lipid environment that naturally protects it.

Modern cleansers commonly rely on surfactants and emulsifying systems that allow oils, makeup and accumulated impurities to disperse into water and be rinsed away. This cleansing milk takes a different approach.

Rather than depending on a modern solution, it works through the natural affinity of oils for oils, gently loosening makeup, sunscreen, excess sebum and the impurities accumulated throughout the day so they can be lifted from the skin with a warm, damp cloth.

There are no surfactants, no synthetic detergents and no water added to dilute the botanical composition. Instead, the cleansing medium itself is made from the plants.

The Botanicals

Whole organic macadamia nuts form the heart of this cleansing milk. Unlike macadamia oil alone, it brings the broader complexity of the nut itself into contact with the skin—its naturally occurring oils existing alongside the many other constituents created and held together by the plant.

Naturally rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, including oleic and palmitoleic acids, macadamia has a remarkable affinity for the skin, allowing the cleansing milk to loosen oil-soluble impurities while leaving the skin soft, supple and beautifully conditioned.

Whole chamomile complements macadamia with its own extraordinary botanical complexity. Traditionally treasured in the care of delicate and sensitive skin, it contributes a naturally intricate composition of flavonoids, polyphenols and other plant constituents that cannot be represented by a single isolated “active.”

Chamomile essential oil is included alongside the whole plant with equal intention. Distilled from the flowers, it concentrates a different spectrum of chamomile’s naturally occurring constituents and has long been valued in botanical skin care for its particular affinity for delicate, sensitive and easily unsettled skin. Here, it is not included simply to perfume the formula, but as another expression of the plant itself.

Created for every skin type, with an especial affinity for skin that prefers cleansing without the feeling of being stripped—leaving it soft, supple and beautifully conditioned rather than simply “clean.”

The Ritual

Massage 1-2 dropperfuls, or as much as needed for what you are cleansing away, onto wet skin, allowing the cleansing milk to mingle with makeup, sunscreen and the traces of the day.

Wet a soft cloth with comfortably warm water and gently sweep the cleansing milk away. Repeat if needed.

Rather than rubbing the skin dry, finish by gently pressing a raw silk cloth against the face, allowing the fabric to absorb the remaining moisture while leaving the skin softly conditioned.

The amount of cleansing milk can follow the ritual itself—a simple cleanse may require very little, while makeup, sunscreen or the accumulated traces of a long day may ask for more.
